The Urhobo Kingdom of Udu

Located within close proximity with Warri Metropolis, Udu is a fast expanding kingdom due to this closeness.

It is connected to to Warri via Enerhen by the Udu Bridge over Warri River.  The land  of Udu is interlocked by rivers flowing across. It has a tropical weather and rain forest with evergreen vegetation and plantation all year round. Its geographical feature consists of numerous streams that inter-connect into an intricate web of rivers, lagoons, swamps and wetlands.

Udu had several towns and villages that comprises the kingdom. Amongst these towns and villages are Ovwian, Aladja the location of the the Delta Steel Complex, a sprawling development of township and steel plant and downstream industries. There are also Egini, Otor Udu, Ekete, Orhuwhorun

The Boat shuttles between Pessu Market, near McIver, Warri and  Aladja carrying commuters and goods. I serves as an effective short cut between the two communities. The trip takes approximately 15 minutes
 

Important Places to See

Berger Bush Bar
Located in the town of Aladja, This bar is unique. It gives you an illusion of being in the remote village. They have regular local drinks like Star Beer, Gulder Beer etc; and of course Palm Wine.

BOAT REPAIR DOCK
This boat repair dockyard is near the Delta Steel Plant and was formally being used by the company.

ECONOMY

Udu's natural resources include rubber and rubber products, palm oil and palm products, cassava, fruits, vegetables and maize available in large quantities. Silica is available in a nearby town for the manufacture of glass and also is crude oil, natural gas and other minerals for the petrochemical industry.

To the right of the Udu Bridge are the Delta Steel plant, Africa's first direct steel reduction variety of metallurgy, and Udu's market. A Shell gas plant is located near the Udu Kingdom, as are the offices of engineering companies.

A railway line is currently being constructed by the Federal Government from Itakpe-Ajaokuta to Aladja.
