Police on alert over bomb threat
to Udu Bridge

WARRI—POLICEMEN from the Enerhen Police Division,
Enerhen in Delta State have been placed on a 24-hour surveillance of the Udu
Bridge and other strategic locations in Uvwie local government area of the
state following a threat by some youths to bomb the Bridge.

Men of the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Delta State Police Command in Asaba
are also expected to join the Enerhen surveillance team soon in a bid by the
police to nip the looming crisis between Udu and Uvwie over the ownership of
Enerhen in the bud.
Already, three youths from Enerhen had been stabbed in a fight between the
two groups and there is tension in the two communities.
Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Enerhen Police Division, Chief
Superintendent of Police (CSP) Muazu Mohammed confirmed to Vanguard when
contacted, yesterday, that the police in Enerhen have waded into the matter
with a view to ensuring that peace reigns between the Uvwie and Udu people.
He also confirmed that his men were on a 24-hour patrol of the Udu Bridge
following intelligence information that some youths want to bomb it as a
result of the dispute between the two communities, saying that he had
contacted his boss, the Commissioner of Police, Jacob Oshiomogor to deploy
bomb disposal experts. |
