 He also revealed that the Commission has finally offered employment to 500 Deltans out of the over 10,000 applicants that applied for the Commission’s job, even as he said DESOPADEC has equally acquired a new office accommodation belonging to the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, in Warri.

Chief Okrika made these remarks, Weekend, in Warri at a press briefing to mark the Commission’s 1st year anniversary.

The Commission which was re-constituted by the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan Administration on 11th July, 2007 has so far awarded 409 contracts now at various stages of completion in the area of housing/schools, jetties, roads and energy/biomass solar driven water projects amongst others.

According to Chief Okrika, the specialized medical equipment were donated by Health and Mission International who brought in equipment worth N170m for the treatment of Heart and Kidney related problems and another humanitarian group led by Dr. Nath who donated Medicare worth N30m from the United Kingdom.

He said the Commission’s micro-credit and scholarship schemes has been approved and that its execution is still awaiting the State House of Assembly 2008 budget approval and thanked Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan profusely for his total commitment and support to ensure the success of the Commission against all odds.
